At our drug and alcohol addiction treatment centers, we understand that addiction affects everyone differently and therefore requires individualized care. Substance use disorders can also range from mild to severe, meaning that while some individuals may have the ability to fulfill their responsibilities at home, work, and school (also known as high-functioning addicts), addiction may be more obvious in others.

Regardless of the severity of a person’s drug or alcohol use, it’s still a chronic and possibly life-threatening disease that requires treatment. At Clearbrook mental health and substance use treatment centers in Pennsylvania and Massachusetts, our substance abuse levels of care include effective treatment methods for helping individuals achieve sobriety.

A Personalized Recovery Experience

In order to ensure that patients receive attentive care and tailored support on their journey to recovery, personalization is fundamental to our approach. We recognize and address the unique challenges, preferences, and circumstances of each individual. Through personalized services, we develop treatment plans that are specifically crafted to align with each patient’s distinct goals, strengths, and opportunities for personal growth. This individualized approach not only enhances the effectiveness of our treatments but also empowers patients to achieve sustainable recovery and improved well-being.

Clearbrook’s Levels of Care for Substance Abuse Treatment

At Clearbrook Treatment Centers, we follow a comprehensive continuum of care that begins with the most intensive treatment and gradually steps down to less intensive levels as patients progress. This approach ensures that each individual's most immediate needs are addressed first, reducing the risk of relapse and increasing their chances of successfully completing rehab.

Our team personalizes and adjusts treatment plans based on each client's progress, incorporating a variety of therapy programs and aftercare services tailored to their needs. By offering a wide range of services throughout the rehab journey and beyond, we support our patients in achieving and maintaining long-term sobriety.

Clearbrook Treatment Centers is licensed in both states where it operates. The Pennsylvania facility is licensed by the Pennsylvania Department of Drug and Alcohol Programs and by the Pennsylvania Office of Mental Health and Substance Abuse Services as a Residential Treatment Facility for Adults. The Massachusetts facility is licensed by the Massachusetts Bureau of Substance Addiction Services and by the Massachusetts Department of Mental Health. Both facilities are accredited by The Joint Commission and certified by CARF International for ASAM Levels of Care 3.5 and 3.7.

Questions about our Facilities or Programs?

Our admissions coordinators are available 24/7 to answer any questions you may have as you consider whether treatment at Clearbrook Treatment Center is right for you or your loved one.

Medically-Assisted Detox

Medically monitored detox is the first level of care at our Massachusetts and Pennsylvania rehab centers. When someone tries to quit, or if they suddenly stop using drugs or alcohol, they’ll usually experience withdrawal symptoms. These symptoms can be extremely uncomfortable and sometimes painful.

We offer medical detox to ensure patients are kept safe and given all the medical attention needed to stay healthy throughout this process. Our detox programs are led by a staff of nurses, doctors, and other medical personnel who provide assistance and 24-hour support to ensure patients safely get through the withdrawal phase.

Substance Abuse Residential Treatment Program

After completing their detox programs and medical stabilization is no longer required, patients will then be examined to determine the underlying causes of their substance abuse disorders. Our residential treatment program is a form of inpatient care during which patients live at our facility, where they can focus on their recovery in a safe and comfortable environment.

Both our locations offer comfortable accommodations that help patients relax while undergoing our drug or alcohol addiction treatment. Our residential treatment programs are also suitable for patients who do not require detoxification or medical care but should still be stabilized and under 24-hour supervision.

This program incorporates therapies and programs that include:

Clearbrook Pennsylvania Partial Hospitalization Program (PHP)

Our Pennsylvania rehab offers a specialized partial hospitalization program (PHP) addiction treatment specifically designed for individuals with addiction and co-occurring disorders. This form of care, which serves as an intermediate step between inpatient and standard outpatient programs, provides comprehensive treatment services and medical monitoring during the day without requiring an overnight stay. Participants in our PHP receive drug counseling, individual and group therapy, medical services, medication management, and holistic treatments, all tailored to address their unique needs, including co-occurring mental health disorders, the same integrated approach used in our dual diagnosis treatment program.

Our PHP is more intensive than typical outpatient programs, but less than inpatient treatment, operating 4 to 6 hours a day, 3 to 5 days a week. It is ideal for individuals who are medically stable and have completed a medically supervised detox but still require a high level of support.

Substance Abuse Stabilization Program

Our Massachusetts and Pennsylvania drug rehab understands that relapse is a part of recovery. Because of this, we provide a thorough stabilization program that aims to provide participants with the skills and knowledge they need to avoid relapse and maintain long-term sobriety.

Our stabilization program focuses on overcoming the particular difficulties each person could experience during this crucial stage in order to lay a strong foundation for recovery. It includes creating a unique relapse prevention plan, which is an important part of our therapy. Our skilled team closely collaborates with individuals to pinpoint their unique relapse-prone triggers, weaknesses, and habits.

Mental Health Levels of Care

Not only do we offer inpatient treatment for substance abuse, but both our Pennsylvania and Massachusetts facilities also offer residential mental health care that addresses conditions such as depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, schizophrenia, and more.

Residential Mental Health Treatment at Clearbrook Treatment Centers

We recognize that each person's path to mental wellness is unique. Clients in our residential mental health program live on-site in a separate building until the completion of their care, just as those in our residential drug treatment program receive 24-hour care and counseling. Clients undergo a thorough clinical assessment for accurate diagnosis and medication evaluation, ensuring stabilization before transitioning to lower levels of care.

In addition to medication management, clients receive individual therapy to work on personal healing and address emotional and behavioral patterns that contribute to worsening symptoms. They also participate in group therapy, where they gain peer support and learn from others who are recovering from similar disorders.

Frequently Asked Questions About Levels of Care

What’s the difference between the different levels of care?
The main differences between different levels of care for addiction and mental health treatment are the amount of time the individual spends in treatment per week and whether the person stays at the treatment center overnight.
Does a higher level of care mean my addiction is really bad?
Needing more intensive treatment doesn’t mean a person is “worse” than someone who does not. What matters most is finding the best treatment that sets someone up for long-term sobriety. People also change levels of addiction treatment (higher or lower) if it’s determined that their current program isn’t serving them.
How long will I stay in treatment?
Most people stay in treatment for anywhere between 28 and 90 days. But this is highly dependent on individual needs, so it’s best to talk to addiction professionals who can assess all of your needs as a whole.
Does insurance cover different levels of care?
When a health plan covers mental health and substance use disorder treatment, federal parity law requires it to apply the same financial requirements and treatment limits it applies to medical and surgical care. Not every plan includes those benefits, so exact coverage varies by company and policy type.
What if I don’t know what level of care is best for me?
